BODY CONTOURING – WHY AND HOW?
Our idea about what is a “good look “keeps changing with time. Currently, a trim and fit look seems to be “in”. People with fat bulges may feel out of shape or find it awkward to wear trendy clothes.
Social pressure adds to the compulsion to get back to shape.
One may accumulate fat because of dietary indiscretion, sedentary lifestyle or a combination of both. Women who have gone through childbirth may also find themselves in such a situation and they have to come to terms with stretch marks and loose skin in addition.
Changing lifestyle to a more responsible and healthy one is essential for a successful outcome in a Body Recontouring programme. This includes a calorie restricted diet, regular exercises and a will to stay in good shape and health.
Certain fat deposits are more difficult to get rid off than others. This is because our body has certain designated fat stores- abdomen, hips and thighs for a woman while for a man it is chest and abdomen. Our body holds on to fat in these areas making it tough to lose inches there. Even if you lose weight and become thinner, the body proportion may not change in these areas and the bulges continue to be bothersome. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from these areas and the body is sculpted back into shape.
Loose skin of the abdomen which occurs after childbirth and sudden weight loss can only be corrected by surgically removing the excess skin. Abdominoplasty often referred to as Tummy Tuck results in a flat and tight tummy. The stretch marks of the lower abdomen also get removed during this surgery.
Body contouring surgery addresses the skin and fat only. The internal organs are not affected by the surgery and there are no long term health implications.People who have lost a lot of weight in a short time may find that the skin becomes loose and sagging all over.
Such cases require a full body lift which includes arm lift, breast lift, tummy tuck, butt lift and thigh lift. All these procedures give excellent results. Scars are unavoidable but can be placed in areas where they can be easily hid.
